DAY 3

At the school, we pick up all the equipment that fits you: harness, security leash, helmet and lycra. We grab the kites, bars, pump and off we go driving to the beach.

A theoretical part is crucial to explain to you the overall lesson plan. Then we will brief you on the wind window of the kite, the metaphor of the watch dial, the notions of “Downwind”, “Upwind” and the wind direction “Offshore”, “Onshore”. We will also give you all the keys to assess the spot and the conditions in order to make the safest lesson.

You start the practical part  with a small trainer kite to have a glimpse of a fly, and then set up a normal kite with a short bar. You will test the 3 safety systems and then connect the lines to the kite.  The main goal of the lesson is “kite control” to make you feel confident with the kite. You are going to explore gently each “hour” of the wind window trying to keep the kite as steady as possible, first with two hands and then with one hand. The wind is always changing and you need to adapt our steering. We will teach you the subtlety of piloting. We will remain leashed with you.
